The International Construction Arbitration Association (ICAA) offers an Arbitrator Shortlist Service to assist parties and tribunals involved in the appointment of arbitrators for international construction and engineering disputes.

At the request of one or both parties, or of arbitrators already appointed in a matter, ICAA can prepare a shortlist of suitably qualified arbitrators drawn from its Full Members, Emeritus Members and Next Generation Members. Applicants may specify the number of arbitrators to be included on the shortlist.

The service is conducted in two stages.

Stage 1 – Identification of Suitable Candidates

ICAA will identify arbitrators who satisfy the nationality requirements and any other selection criteria specified by the applicant(s). These arbitrators will be asked to confirm their willingness to participate in the process and to treat all information provided during the shortlist exercise as confidential.

The resulting longlist will be used solely for the purposes of the selection process and will not be disclosed to the applicant(s).

Stage 2 – Conflict Checking and Shortlisting

Arbitrators on the longlist will be provided with the conflict-checking information supplied by the applicant(s). A shortlist will then be prepared from those arbitrators who confirm that they have no conflicts of interest and are willing and able to accept an appointment.

Fee

The fee for the ICAA Arbitrator Shortlist Service is GBP 500.

Applicant Declarations

We confirm that a fee of GBP 500 has been transferred to ICAA. We understand that this fee will be refunded only if ICAA is unable to identify at least two arbitrators who satisfy the specified criteria and are willing and able to accept an appointment.
