Douglas Riccardi is a dual-qualified, multilingual legal professional specialising in international construction law, complex commercial arbitration, and digital infrastructure regulation. Operating out of Düsseldorf, Germany, he bridges the gap between regional European frameworks and the Brazilian legal system.

Holding Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degrees from both the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in Germany and the Fundação Escola Superior do Ministério Público in Brazil, Douglas is fully admitted to practice as an Attorney at Law (OAB) in Brazil. His academic foundation is further fortified by a specialisation in Information, Telecommunications, and Media Law (ITM) from the WWU Münster, equipping him for the legal challenges of emerging technologies.

Douglas has spearheaded claim and contract management for critical EPCI infrastructure projects—including A-Nord, LanWin3, and NordOstLink—working directly with key European Transmission System Operators such as Amprion, TenneT, and 50Hertz. His technical expertise encompasses the strategic management of FIDIC-based international contracts alongside German public procurement regulations (Vergaberecht) and national construction law (VOB/BauGB). Prior to his work on HVDC mega-projects, he managed the contractual frameworks for medium-scale Fttx (Optic Fiber) rollouts.

Douglas possesses a deeply rooted specialisation in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and international arbitration. His trajectory in this field began as a university representative at the 25th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. He has since served as a Legal Assistant managing procedural frameworks for ICC, DIS, and CIAC proceedings, and as a research assistant for a key chapter on international construction arbitration published by Sweet & Maxwell (2020).

Most notably, he was selected to join the prestigious inaugural cohort of Tribunal Assistants established by the ICAA London, where he provides high-level support to arbitral tribunals in complex cross-border disputes.

His practical ADR skills were acquired along the past decade and continuously honed through advanced training at the CIArb in London, Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Humboldt University in Berlin, and the ELSA Arbitration Academy in Lisbon.

Douglas is an active author and international speaker. He has contributed to publications across four languages, exploring topics that range from global AI regulation and blockchain in public administration to the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on fundamental rights and Brazilian Intellectual Property Law.

Operating seamlessly across global jurisdictions, Douglas possesses a distinct linguistic advantage. He brings native-level proficiency in Portuguese and German, full professional proficiency in English, advanced Spanish, and a working knowledge of Italian and elementary French to his legal practice.
