Dr. Ameli is a Managing Director at Ankura, based in Washington, DC. He is a registered professional civil engineer with expertise in construction cost advisory, quantification of damages, calculation of lost productivity, construction cost estimation, and allocation of the responsibility of damages. 

His project portfolio encompasses solar farms, rare earth mineral extraction facilities, hazardous material recycling centers, transit hubs, wastewater treatment plants, sports arenas, performing arts venues, hospitality projects, Class A office buildings, multifamily residential  evelopments, and custom single-family residences. He has authored numerous expert reports that led to successful settlements. He has testified in trials and arbitration hearings.

His graduate research study was supported by United States Department of Energy, Office of Science, and Basic Energy Sciences. It focused on the study and numerical modeling of the alteration of fractured rocks due to

coupled chemical and mechanical processes.

Since 2020, Dr. Ameli has been a member of the board of directors for the Society of Construction Law, North America (SCLNA), currently serving as vice-chair of the board and chair of the 2026 Annual SCLNA Conference in Nashville.
