Venky Feng is an Ontario-qualified construction lawyer specialising in complex construction and infrastructure disputes, with experience spanning international arbitration, domestic arbitration, adjudication, and litigation. She currently serves as Legal Counsel to a national general contractor operating across Canada, where she advises senior leadership on contract strategy, risk allocation, and dispute resolution for major construction and infrastructure projects across multiple jurisdictions.
In her in-house role, Venky works closely with project and executive teams on live matters, providing commercially focused advice on procurement structures, contract administration, and claims strategy. She is actively involved in the management and resolution of disputes through mediation, adjudication, and arbitration, and regularly coordinates with external counsel on complex, multi-party proceedings.
Prior to moving in-house, Venky practiced in the construction group at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Toronto, where she acted for a broad range of stakeholders—including owners, contractors, engineers, consultants, sureties, and financial institutions—in high-value and technically complex disputes. Her experience includes ICC and ad hoc arbitrations, as well as litigation arising from large-scale infrastructure projects across sectors such as energy, transportation, and healthcare.
Venky has direct experience in international arbitration, including serving as Tribunal Secretary to a retired appellate judge in an ICC arbitration seated in Toronto, where she supported the tribunal on procedural and administrative matters and assisted with evidentiary and hearing preparation. She has also been involved in significant arbitral proceedings, including a major hydroelectric project dispute and ICC matters involving international joint venture partners.
Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, Venky brings a practical, detail-oriented, and internationally minded approach to dispute resolution, combining procedural rigour with a strong understanding of the commercial realities underpinning construction disputes.
