Katherine Bell is a partner in Schellenberg Wittmer's Dispute Resolution Group and heads the Construction Practice Group in Zurich. Her main areas of practice are domestic and international litigation and arbitration. She specializes in the resolution of disputes arising out of complex construction, engineering and infrastructure projects across a variety of industries. In addition, she represents clients in disputes in connection with commercial tenancy and lease agreements. She acts as counsel and arbitrator in arbitral proceedings and represents parties in litigation proceedings before Swiss courts. In addition to her disputes practice, Katherine regularly advises clients on contract drafting and negotiation, contract and claims administration and dispute avoidance.
She has acted as counsel and arbitrator in arbitrations under a variety of rules, in particular under the ICC Rules, Swiss Rules, DIS Rules and VIAC Rules.
Katherine acts as Co-Vice Chair of the Dispute Resolution Subcommittee of the International Construction Projects (ICP) Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). She also co-chairs the Construction Group of the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA). For many years, she has contributed the Switzerland chapter to GAR Know How Construction Arbitration.
