As arbitrator, Andreas J. Roquette can draw on more than 30 years of experience advising on all kinds of construction projects (domestic and international), including infrastructure, energy, and transportation projects both in the execution and dispute phase.

Andreas bridges the gap between highly specialised knowledge on construction issues and the effective management of dispute resolution proceedings. His practice includes arbitration, adjudication, conciliation and mediation, both under civil and common law. His particular area of expertise is Delay and Disruption – he is, inter alia, co-editor of Handbuch Bauzeit (Handbook Construction Time). Andreas is a partner at CMS (Berlin) and co-head of its German disputes practice-group.

Andreas is member of the SCL (Society of Construction Law), the DIS (German Arbitration Institute), the ASA (Swiss Arbitration Association), the LCIA (London Court of International Arbitration), the ICP (International Construction Projects Committee) of the IBA (International Bar Association), and of the Deutscher Baugerichtstag (German Construction Law Conference). He is Co-Chair of the DIS Construction Group and was head of the Working Group Ib (Construction Time) of the Deutsche Baugerichtstag. He was also a member of the working group “Law” of the Construction Reform Commission set up by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI).

Andreas regularly publishes and lectures on specialized construction and dispute resolution related topics. He is the editor and co-author of three handbooks (Construction Time, Construction Contracts, and International Construction Disputes), co-editor of RInPrax (Law Journal on Industrial and Infrastructure Projects), collaborator of BauR (Construction Law Journal), and Country Correspondent of the ICLR (International Construction Law Review) for Germany.

He is listed as one of the leading construction lawyers in various rankings. Lexology selected Andreas repeatedly as “Global Elite Thought Leader”, and Handelsblatt elected him as “Lawyer of the Year in Construction Law 2027”.
