Professor Renato Nazzini KC is a partner at LMS Legal LLP, London and Professor of Law at King's College London, where he is also the Director of the Centre of Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. In 2025 he was appointed King’s Counsel (Hon) for his major contribution to English law. 


He is an experienced arbitrator with a strong focus on complex construction, infrastructure and engineering projects, oil and gas, energy and foreign investments. He is a specialist in ICSID arbitration and ISDS more generally and has published widely on the subject. Having served for seven years as a UK Government lawyer, he is skilled in disputes involving states and issues of public and governmental policy and regulation. 


Professor Nazzini is dually qualified as an English Solicitor and an Italian Advocate and understands the different approaches of common law and civil law jurisdictions. He has worked across Europe, Africa, Asia and America under most institutional rules (ICC, LCIA, DIAC, SIAC, UNCITRAL, etc.) as chair/president of the tribunal, sole arbitrator, wing-member/party-appointed arbitrator and emergency arbitrator. 


He is a member of the ICC Arbitration and ADR Commission, Italy, a member of the ICC Task Force on Dealing with Corruption Issues in International Arbitration and a member of the Advisory Board of Africa Construction Law. He is admitted to the SIAC, DIAC and SCCA panels of arbitrators and to the HKIAC panel of adjudicators and list of arbitrators. He is also admitted to the panel of the Court of Arbitration of the Polish Chamber of Commerce and of the Construction Dispute Resolution Centre of Belgrade (Serbia). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. 


He holds two doctorates from the Universities of London and Milan and has published 10 books and more than 100 articles and book chapters. He has been a visiting professor at the Universities of Turin, Zurich and FGV São Paulo, Brazil. 


He can conduct proceedings in English and Italian and has working knowledge of French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. He is an Italian and British national.
