Finding the ideal arbitrator for a complex dispute can be a challenging and time-consuming task. This is particularly true for co-arbitrators who may be unfamiliar with specific construction sectors or the full depth of our specialised membership database.

To address this, the International Construction Arbitrators Association (ICAA) has launched a new Arbitrator Shortlist Service. The service is now live and accessible via the ICAA Arbitrator Shortlist Service page on our website.

For a fixed fee of GBP 500, this service provides parties and co-chairs with a tailored, vetted, and conflict-free selection of qualified professionals.

How It Works: A Reliable Two-Stage Process

The service uses a strict, confidential two-stage process. This ensures you only receive candidates who are fully qualified, interested, and available.

1. Request and Criteria

Parties, co-chairs, or nominated arbitrators submit their requirements using the linked application form on our website. You specify your key criteria such as nationality or technical expertise and state exactly how many names you require on your final list.

2. The Long-List and Confidentiality (Stage One)

ICAA checks its database to find members who meet your criteria. We contact these compliant members to confirm their interest and secure a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Members must agree to keep all future case details strictly confidential.

3. Conflict Vetting and Final Delivery (Stage Two)

Members who pass the first stage receive the conflict-checking information from your application. We then compile the final shortlist exclusively from those arbitrators who confirm they have no conflicts of interest. This final list is then delivered to you.

To protect the independence of this process, ICAA is under no obligation to explain its selection reasoning to applicants, nor to discuss the results with individual members.
